Travel Vaccinations
If you are preparing for overseas travel, talk to us about travel health & vaccinations. In helping you prepare for travel, we’ll establish if you need vaccines for travel; organise Fit to Fly Certificates and assess any health concerns to avoid health issues or plan travel medication.
We now offer Yellow Fever vaccinations.
Up-to-date Travel Vaccinations will get you Fit to Fly
Our travel and vaccination clinic team will check your routine vaccination schedule to ensure you’re up-to-date with NZ recommended vaccines. Some countries require specific vaccine coverage though as diseases variants of things like Meningitis or Hepatitis are still common in some overseas locations. The Measles vaccine is an important one to have up-to-date in the Pacific.
Travel Medicine is not covered by the Ministry of Health subsidies. The fees for adult consultations (Nurse & GP time) are $96 and $48 for children.
Required Vaccinations for Travel may include:
- Polio booster
- Hepatitis A or B
- Japanese Encephalitis
- Tick bite fever
- Human Papillomavirus
- Meningitis ABCWY
- Strep Pneumo
- Yellow fever*
- Varicella
As the Required Vaccinations for travel to different countries vary and also change from time to time, our expert clinicians are here to help. They have up to date knowledge on which vaccinations you’ll need and how long before your departure they should be given.
*A double consultation fee applies for Yellow Fever vaccinations.
When should you plan your Travel Vaccinations
It takes time for some vaccines to give full coverage, so book your Travel Vaccinations 8 – 10 weeks prior to departure.
Sometimes a booster will be required and immunity will build over time. Plan in advance to ensure your travel health safety.
During your clinic visit, our vaccination teams will outline other considerations for keeping in good health. These include precautions for reducing the risk of getting blood clots (DVT), planning prescriptions for the duration of your trip for things like malaria prophylactics.
If you are visiting a region where malaria is a risk, you may need to be prescribed medication to prevent this infection. It could be advisable to start taking this before departure.
